THE SMOOTH GUIDE
to Adult Mental Health Services in Sheffield (UK)

The Smooth Guide to Adult Mental Health Services in Sheffield began as a printed directory of services aimed at users, carers and professionals alike. In its 3rd Edition, it was published in paper format in 2005 by Sheffield Mind, with funding gratefully received from the Sheffield City Council Social Services Directorate. As in both previous editions the Guide offers a core directory format, supplemented with sections giving more general advice and guidance around accessing services across a wide range of mental health and related service areas.

The collection and collation of the information presented in the Guide was undertaken by staff and volunteers at Sheffield Mind, under the guidance of a Steering Committee comprising health professionals, service users and other interested parties.

At the current time, the 3rd Edition of the Guide is effectively out of print (though see below). However, the contents of the directory remain available to internet users in the form of an online database. More information about the web-based Smooth Guide Mental Health Directory can be found by following the 'Search Online' link from the menu on the left of this page.

If you are familiar with the Guide and would like to offer any comments or suggestions for potential future editions, or if you would like to contact us for any other reason, then please feel free to make use of the form on the 'Contact Us' page for this purpose.

The Smooth Guide is changing! This is partly in response to the need for a new edition of the printed directly which is now over three years old, but users familiar with the existing Guide and accompanying online version of the directory will be able to expect much more from what will effectively become a new mental health information service for the city.
